This is the famous place for thai buddist and long history…Nice to see the place and making the merit for good feeling and be happy after giving…Good for shopping on thai traditional foods and dessert or local products here so…let’s try and enjoy your trip here.
On a side trip from Bangkok ended up in SaraBuri with a Thai friend. This was a nice day out, very relaxing area and in the always great Thai weather much pleasure. The monkeys were also fun to see.
It was very nice to pay respect on my birthday, lots of happiness and feel good, thank you for taking me here
Went there by mini van fron Saraburi. Last mini van back to Saraburi is at 3.30pm. The stairs are high, and took me a while to reach at the top but it was worth it.
I would say the great things about this temple are the 500 years old Buddha footprint, along the painting on the way up and of course the superbe view. Steps going up are quite easy on the driving side, another story from the market side!
The temple is 10 kms from Saraburi town. On the cliff below is PRA CHAI – The shadow of Lord Buddha, the buddhist scripts had written story of hunter man named Kataka asking the Buddha’s imprint while he visited here. The Reclining Buddha image, the Royal Signature of King Rama V, King Rama IX and royal family, rishi caves. On hilltop, an Ayutthaya mondop with 5 spired covered the natural footprint of Lord Buddha on stone. Also the view point on this small mount tourist could see the scenery of Saraburi town and surrounding Mountain. Also can see the Samlan waterfall National Park too.
Monkeys are everywhere. The people don’t bother them. The image of buddha on the wall and the footprint is very interesting to see. Defenitely recommending it to everyone near sara buri.
This wat was just stunningly beautiful; it seemed to float diaphanously above the mortal world. There were even monkeys present and these primates could liven up proceedings.
The setting of the temple on an expansive rock overlooking the plains near Saraburi is very attractive and the views are excellent. However, we were turned off by the aggressiveness of people in wanting to charge for parking at the top of the mountain (the commercialization of religion is somehow not very appealing). Also, there are literally thousands of monkeys swarming over the rock outcrops and many of them are very aggressive. Sadly, it appears that it’s common practice for visitors to feed the poor animals (undoubtedly including various junk food) so many of the monkeys are sickly and in poor health.
