  1. If you are going to tackle the hill then go early to beat the heat. We started at 8am but you could start even earlier. We are not particularly fit but with a number of stops on the way up we were able to make it up there. Worth the view and a good place to rest and get your breath back when you reach the top.

  2. From the attractive statuary and picnic spot at the roadside, take either of two staircases. Both lead to a platform after 10-15 minutes climb. From here you can choose to go to the right up stairs to the cave or left between two 3-headed nagas to a temple complex. The stairs to the cave are a long hard slog (for us anyway!) with precious little reward other than an uninspiring view through a hole in the mountain and saying “we made it!” Forget this route if you have time for one only. The temple is unmissable and definitely 5 star. Go up the stairs past the nagas and eventually past various statues including a magnificent purple Ganesh. Ultimately, you are confronted by the most beautiful temple in a gorgeous setting amongst trees. In front is a lovely, carefully tended garden with more sculptures. Inside were people doing walking meditation on a gleamingly immaculate floor. Beyond is a relaxation/picnic area whilst further still is a cave. You can go down the steps inside – there’s a light switch on the right inside the entrance – to pass impressive stalactites and reach more Buddhist images. Before leaving the temple area, climb up the pagoda to see a great view out to the Thale Sap lake. This is a truly great visit.

  3. Is well worth climbing up Phatthalung’s iconic mountain to get a great view of the city. Not for the unfit!

  4. Stunning walk beautiful sceneryFantastic Buddhist temple high in the mountains overlooking PhatthalungHas a stairway to walk up but can be slippery if wetAbsolutely stunning and well worth the effortBest of all no tourists

  5. Intended to view the mountain from a nearby restaurant but I was there quite late…sad indeed. Will come again to view this mountain..

  6. It’s 1066 steps to the top, so you can judge whether it’s worth the climb. Certainly a good workout, and we can all probably use a workout diring holiday, no? The wbole climb is shaded, which is a blessing on a hot day, but this also means that there are just a few view points on the way up. The view through the cave that people are climbing up to see really isnt that special. There are toilets near the bottom of the climb. There are also several signs reminding us to dress appropriately for the temple, that is no tank tops or shorts. I did see several locals climbing in shorts however.

  7. Is a tourist attraction that is famous for Phatthalung province. is a place full of vegetation. there has a viewpoint on the mountain that can be seen down to see the rice fields and Phatthalung city. Travel must walk up and cannot bring the car up. there give Feeling like being adventurous

  8. Not the best time to go up compared to say 7am as the area is humid. We took the gentle path up and were rewarded with a nice vista of the surrounding area.Vegetation and limestone hills of the area are an extension of the Perlis landscape in Malaysia.Returned to Hatyai later in the day

  9. A lot of people are getting to the cave/hole in the rock viewpoint and stopping. Look for the rope on the right hand side. It leads to an amazing 360 degree viewpoint which is much much better.Note near the bottom of the climb you can take steps left or right. Left is to the temple and right is to the cave/rope viewpoint. The rope part is quite dangerous, you need to be fit. Using arms to pull yourself up. Small kids and elderly – definitely not.Free…

  10. The unusual shape of this makes this the symbol of Phatthalung. You will see this from around town. You may also climb it for a good viewpoint of the city.
