Pong Dueat Geyser is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
The Pong Dueat has interesting geysers and offers a nive walk in the jungle forrest. There are some thermal water pools.I saw also cabins to change clothes.
To enter to the park was a bit scary from the off road route have to be careful to not fall off from the cliff to the valley, we stayed in the tent there and can soak nature hot spring for free during the stay. The nature here is perfect for rejuvenate your body and mind.
We stopped here not expecting much since we live near some hot springs. The walk to the geysers is beautiful. Not much more to see other than the geysers there but worth the short walk. The most beautiful part are the soaking tubs. We did not soak, too hot!! But it’s a beautiful place, none the less. My husband at least put his feet in. And, you may see reviews about the road being in horrible shape. It has recently been paved so not bad. HOWEVER, it is basically the width of a single lane but is a double lane so it can get real tight if two cars are going the opposite direction.
A must must must visit place on the drive from Chiangmai to Pai. This place is unbelievable and just amazing!!!! The natural geyser is brilliant. I haven’t quite seen anything this good. The trail is also through the forest and the whole experience is great.. they also have little places for mineral bath with natural hot water. I’d recommend taking your swimming costume if you decide to get into the hot pools.
We were lucky to get in for free, but normally the entrance fee for non-Thai visitors is 300 baht per person plus 20-30 baht per vehicle. It’s a little pricey, but in my opinion, worth it.The geyser is actually many geysers of varying sizes that just constantly bubble up and force out piping hot water (do NOT touch!). You can buy baskets of eggs to place in the boiling water and enjoy some boiled eggs to go with the gassy smell.Downstream the water cools significantly and there are little spas and pools to soak in. We were there alone so we just soaked in a little natural pool that had formed next to the hiking track. Such a soothing experience after a long travelling day!
We stopped during low season, actually live only 40 minutes away. Not empty, but VERY few people, none in the large outdoor pool I was soaking in. The entire experience is notable for being well designed, built and maintained — and clean (several pools to choose from). Hiking is a great option, but the soaking pools are adjacent to the parking area, no hiking involved. Yes, the road is narrow — but normal for people accustomed to remote Thai villages, well paved and well maintained. The entry fee is what it is . . . get a Thai spouse and divide by 2 :)Not many places like this — take a short break if you have the chance.
we were driving from Chiang mai to Pai.we didn’t had any special plans for the way.suddenly we saw the sigh to this lovely place and we decided to go visit there.the geyser was very hot (of course) and intresting. you can buy in the entrance (at the tourist information building) a small busket with egg – and then boil in in the geyser! – super cool.after that we went to the hot pools.it was cloudy day so we were almost alone – and the water were warn and great to soak in.DONT MISS IT!
Pong Duet Geyser turned out to be a nice little stop on our way to Pai. Small paved road all the way to the park. Entry 300 baht for foreigners, 50 for Thai people and 30 for the car. The tickets will allow for same day visit to Pai hot springs and the Huai Nam Dang national park. We parked at the first parking lot as you entered the place and walked the nature trail which is about 1 km. The geyser was nice to see. There is also a pool for those who are interested in thermal mineral bath. The pool was pretty crowded so we saved our bath for Pai hot springs
Great place. The road towards the Geyser from the mainroad is already very excited with avatar like nature with steep hilltops.Geyser was impressive as I never saw one before nor thought about this nature force.Plenty of activities to do there. At parking one you find showers with mineral water coming from the geyser. There is a very nice stream there too which you can hike.At parking two (under trees) you see bungalows which are luxurious. Good for honeymoon stop I would definitely say. On the other side of the parking/road is a 300m path that leads to the geyser. You can also follow a path downwards from there folowing the stream leading you to the two beautiful pools which were not dirty at all as some wrote. Its just very natural with a constant flow of fresh hot water coming from the geyser. There are also 10 private houses there you can rent for taking a bath. They should open those on the mountain side in my opinion for a great avatar like view.If you drive past parking two in the middle you arrive also at the pools. I woukd call it parking 3.You can also put up a tent there for 30 bath and enjoy an incredible sunrise from the upper mineral bath. You can easily spent half a day there relaxing or if hiking even longer. Ticket is 300 bath and 30 for motor. If you stay the night the same ticket will do. In combination with other attractions around Pai you get a discount of 150 bath (only half the price). I am not sure which ones. You have to check yourself.Enjoyed every bit of it!
The 6 km side road leading off the main road is fantastic. Through thick rain forest. Good surface. A must do.We were on two motorcycles touring northern Thailand. When we arrived found that locals pay 60 baht and foreigners 300! Baht. 5 x the rate. We did a quick turnaround. This is a rip-off. When .we arrived a couple arrived on a scooter, also left after talking to the gate keeper Paying double MAY be acceptable, but 5times the orice is raken the piss.
