10 thoughts on “Pang Mapha Viewpoint

  1. The highest point in the Amphur, at around 4,300ft. Lots of people stop here to take pictures. It is half way between Pai and Soppong. A few stalls, barbecued corn, coffee in cans, and espresso place. Nice view both ways. It gets smokey in February and March. Cold at night.

  2. After having spent several hours “riding” route 1095 visiting Mae Hong Son area making a stop at this place on the way back to Pai was inspiring.Sunset timing is the right time to stop by! I am convinced that sunsets are different every day but the common denominating factor is the astounding overview across the entire valley…Must do.

  3. With great nature they have, Pang Mapha has become a popular tourist destination to relax and enjoy the slow life in this charming town.

  4. If i could move mountains i would move this one to my back garden! Forget the purple hills. This one takes the disco biscuits!

  5. This is the site where Thai observed a sea of cloud covering the below forest. Nearby, there is a noodle shop where people will sit and hang their feet outside the balcony.

  6. I’m sure Pang Mapha Viewpoint is stunning at certain times of the day and I was looking forward to taking some photos as the sun dropped. However, we’d previously visited Lod Cave and our time there was far longer than we’d anticipated, so by the time we arrived at the viewpoint the sun had almost set.Rather disappointed, but Lod Cave was incredible so not too unhappy.

  7. When possible try to stop here and watch the wonderfull view on both sides. It is really awesome! Get a good camera!

  8. After a 3-hour ride from Chiang Mai, Pha Mon Lahu Village was my first stop. With my scooter, I was riding up a steep and narrow road to reach the village. People here are Lahu (Red Lahu or Mussur). This village was newly supported by government to be community-based tourist destination. Everything here was authentic and not set up. I stayed in a Lahu’s house about 300 THB including breakfast. I’d suggest this place for those who look for an authentic and peaceful place. Don’t forget to ask for a hard trek to Doi Suk Sabai (name of the mountain). You will see many strange plants and ferns.Village name: Baan Pha Mon, Pang Mapha.
