Phu Hin Rongka National Park is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 65120, Thailand
From the information centre, it’s quite a walk. There were shaded tree-shaded areas along the way but there were also that you have to brave the heat. You will pass along some huge rocks and another viewpoint. The nodules area feels like you are in the outer space, amazing with the view. It can be overcrowded though so you need to find your spot to get that perfect camera shot.
Lan Hin Pum (button rock) has a very beautiful mountain view. The trail takes about 2hrs to complete & moderate walk. Many scenic spots and the rock formations/sediments. Too bad, all the explaination/tour guide only speaks Thai.
This is an absolute beautiful park. Learn the history of area. It’s an important centre of Thai history. One could easily get lost. Great photo opportunities as you are taken throughout.
Something that I really love about driving around Thailand is discovering their “unseen” beauty. So much to see apart from all the popular places amongst (foreign) tourist. Whilst in Phut tub Berk. I also went and visit Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. About an hour drive.Interesting Thai history here too. It took for about two and a half hours, a moderate walk for me to complete the trail. I took my time walking for me to enjoy the different scenic spots, the rock formations and of course spent a bit of time at Lan Hin Pum or called the button rock until I reach the Highest part of the mountain. It’s really worth visiting this national park. Thing is, there were just few visitors so you will really have this place to yourself once you walk 5 minutes in.. 😉
Drive up to the parking area, about 10 km after National Park entrance. Still sad that the foreigners pay 500 B entrance, the Thai only 100 – not OK but this is a country issue. From 300 m up to 1100 m with car. We took a guide for the 1,5 h walk/hiking around a kind of panorama way, with interesting info which were translated by our Thai friends in our group. We paid the guide 300 B and shared our pick nick with him, he was happy, we were happy. Amazing view. About 1 hours drive from Dansai.
We went to Khao Kho in the hope of seeing the magnificent sea mist at sunrise and Thai Sakura blossom. Before we departed to Khao Kho, I communicated with the Park on the Thai Sakura blossom. It wasn’t a favouring reply from them. They estimated that the blossom will be from 12 January 2020 onwards. Nevertheless, we went ahead hoping to see the sea mist at sunrise (also subjected to weather condition).29 December 2019 was the day we visited Phu Gin Rong National Park and the day we strike jackpot with Mother Nature. Not only did we see the magnificent sea mist at sunrise (although it wasn’t very dense, it was still breathtaking.), we caught the Thai Sakura in full bloom too! Due to weather change in Thailand, the blossom came early on 25 December 2019 instead of the Park’s estimated date. It was Day 4 of the blossom when we saw the gorgeous blossom. Thus, the hills were covered with lovely pink coat. The waking up at 3am on 29 December 2019 was so rewarding and memorable for us!
Really a long ride up from BKK, also quite a distance from homestay. Did it in the park area, but because mine was only 30km, it did not cover most of the park (that the 50km did..the 50km also got to see a bit of the sakura..envy them..The run was Evil 100)Very beautiful scenery/ countryside, nice interacting with the cute village boys/girl cheerleaders.
This park uses a two tier pricing system for Thais and foreigners. As far as the views etc. are really nice and it is a good place to go, if you can afford it, for a couple of days of hiking etc. However, the 1250% mark up for tourists (in a country where tourism comprises such a large part of the GDP) does seem extremely excessive.
Very very beautiful place inside Phitsanulok. Staffs from National Park are very helpful, very cute and kind. They always help all the time. The rock mountain have many places to visit with lots of memory and beautiful by nature.
A beautiful National Park in Phitsanulok Province. January an excellent month for a visit with the cherry trees in bloom and the weather is cooler. I suggest hiring a driver to take your group up!
