Pa Pong Pieng is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Chang Khoeng Subdistrict, 50270, Thailand
We have previously visited the temples on top of Doi Inthanon and saw Mae Chaem in the valley far below. During a recent visit to Mae Hong Son, we decided to go south and drive to Mae Chaem through the Pa Pong Pieng area that leads to the western side of Doi Inthanon park. The mountain views were magnificent and the terrain much different than anything we have experienced in Thailand. Many farms covered the mountain region with fields palnted in rich bright orange soil heavily covered with boulders in some areas. The drive from Mae Chaem up to Doi Inthanon wil be memorable as it was the most dramatic road area we have seen in northern Thailand.
Pa Pong Pieng is 3.5 hrs far from Chiang Mai airport.I went there in August. If you want to see how the farmer do there job or want to spend a day with natural, this place can tell you. If you want to see the green rice field, you have to come in August to September.Or if you want to see the yellow rice feel, you need to come on Mid October to November. There is no restaurant or coffee shop here. But there is home stay nearby. You can’t come here by public transport. You have to rent the motorbike or 4 wheeled car only. Anyway, you should come once in your life^_^
The little Rice Terraces in Mae Chaem Chiang Mai. I recommend to visit this place in the late of Thai Raining season (approx late September to early November) as this time visitors will have a good time to experience the best time of Rice Terraces.Panorama of Rice Terraces is the best with a cup of coffee at one of the home-stay nearby there!!I visited in early November which I had a good chance to see threshing from local farmer as well as the wonderful golden rice fields.
