Wat Lam Phaya Floating Market is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Klong Damnoen Saduak, 73130, Thailand
Very few tourists come to this market, which is open only on Saturdays and Sundays. It it not the iconic Thai floating market with little boats paddled by vendors, but rather a series of larger floating pontoon boats that remain moored at the pier. The local products, color, and great food are all very satisfying, however. The setting on the Tha Chin River is beautiful. The vendors are very friendly and not “corrupted” by tourism.
If you have your own transportation, a visit to the huge, local Lam Phaya floating market is a good idea. There are many floating foodstalls and some little rowing boats, selling all kinds of Thai food and local delicacies. Ashore are more stalls selling local products, toys and fruits and vegetables. Activities comprise a local handicraft museum, feeding the fish and various boat trips on the Tha Chin river in a small samphan or a bigger boat with food included. Vendors start packing up from 3 pm onwards. As the market is located on temple grounds, smoking on the premises is not allowed.
It seems to be a market just for tourists, but interesting none the less. The tour we booked was reletively expensive for Thailand and it DID NOT include the boat ride in the market (it included a short boat ride to the market, which was too fast to enjoy and we didn’t know what we were looking at on the way). The tried to scam us for the boat ride in the market. The guide told us is was 700 baht but having overheard someone get a ticket for 150, I went to another vendor and got the reduced price. The boat ride in the market was probably less than the half hour we paid for. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there from Bangkok, so if you have another option to visit a floating market on one of the islands that is “closer to home”, choose that, otherwise go here, but know what your getting yourself into.
The floating market is not far from Bangkok, you can drive only 1 hour and there are many kinds of food for you to choose. You can buy something and sit at the table near river provided free. Another interesting activity is the cruise of the Tha Chin River.
Songkarn holiday is open as usual. It has a lot of Thai foods. Interesting activity is boah travelling a long to the river.
Wat Lam Phaya Floating Market – normal – nothing too special but if you have the time and inclination to travel outside BKK proper toward this market then sure you can. It’s fairly typical for a Thai floating market. It’s small and has good food options and on can hire a long tail boat and make a lot of annoying noise zooming around the klongs…not my thing.
Lam Phaya Floating Market I go often, but in the past I went with my boyfriend. Go for delicious food with both vegetables and fruits and various food The most impressive thing is go on a tourist boat The distance is not very far, about 2 kilometers. You can buy food and eat on the boat. That day I bought grilled shrimp, papaya salad and a few snacks. Take a boat to cruise along the Tha Chin River continuously. Visit Ban Tian and went to pay homage to the Buddha image at Wat Bang Phra It’s a very impressive feeling. If the Covid-19 situation disappears, I want everyone to come and visit here. So happy.
It is a floating market with a lot of food. And a lot of variety, including food, Thai desserts, drinks and fruits. You can walk around. There is enough parking. But may have to walk a little far For the situation of Covid nineteen to get better, I want to come with my family again.
