  1. I don’t need to repeat all the comments about a zoo, so please accept my apologies to say just that it’s not worth to go there. Village life, cultural impression of the way of living? Watch better a Walt Disney movie instead.

  2. Tour grp visit the Kareen village. Good to seen the village, that Hav another actual village all the Kareen, but not open to as “attractive “. The scarf wove handmade , more cheaper compare in night market .

  3. It was a great experience to see women from Karen tribe. Village was calm and there were only few people there with us.

  4. Of all the wonderful places we enjoyed in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, this place was the most unusual and most difficult to write about. The Myanmar people are secluded to this confined compound as they are given a much better life than in Myanmar (we were told by tour guide) but conditions are ( to us ) poor. The Yapa people approach you in a begging way so it’s a little like charity, little uncomfortable. One recommendation: ask the girls and ladies if you may take their photo so it doesn’t make them feel like zoo animals. After a photo, giving a very small tip (a coin or two) is also kind. Despite my own uncomfortable feeling, learning about Myanmar people was a good learning experience.

  5. After you visit and see Villaggio Yapa, Tribu Padaung, Donne Giraffa you ask yourself “why”? But with second thought you understand that it is their culture so enjoy the difference and make pictures.

  6. The visit to Villaggio Yapa Tribu Padaung Donne Giraffa will open your mind and you will see a different side of tradition and cultures

  7. Visiting here was completely a different experience for me. I got surprised and shocked on how they are so comfortable with those culture of long neck.

  8. These women are not of the Karen tribe. They are Padaung and come from Pekon, near Loikaw Myanmar. Visit them there, as I am — review to follow.

  9. Our family experience was fantastic. We didn’t feel uncomfortable and didn’t make the tribe feel uneasy. We asked for permission to take photos and purchased some of their handmade scarfs which are very beautiful and some nick nacks. The Padaung tribe is a subgroup of the larger Kayah tribe, which in turn is a subgroup of the Karenni which in turn is a subgroup of the Karen. The Padaung have no written language and are best known for its long-necked women. The tribe is named after the Padaung area, where most of them live. There are about 10,000 people in the tribe. Padaung” means “long neck” in the Shan anguage.A must do and see if you are traveling in this region.
