  1. It’s beautiful, it’s imaginative, it’s in a wonderful mountain setting and it’s compassionate but it’s also a commercial theme park. Seems most Thais approach their worship on a surface level in my opinion. For many it’s about good luck, getting money but certainly about self. For a westerner it’s a bit like going to a cross between a psychic fair and a theme park but it’s a must see and there is a spirit of place happening.. You could be influenced in a spiritual way if you can reconcile the noise of the crowds of Thai tourists either strolling around on an outing or enacting the obligatory ritual steps. It’s ever expanding; seems they want to put a giant reclining Buddha on the roof of a building that looks like a hotel and for that, they need money.

  2. Radical architectural & design style and a enormous very abstract trippy Maitreya Buddha (the next Buddha to come).

  3. Stunning place in Petchbun province Thailand. Important religious place and equally interesting for a traveller. Can be a little tiring but a visit to Wat Pha Sorn Kaew is highly recommended.

  4. Visited in mid July during the rainy season. Do go early in the morning to avoid crowds. Wear slippers or any footwear that are easy to take off since you will be required to remove your footwear at the entrance. There’re certain rules to follow for the ladies such as no showing of shoulders and midriff. No shorts and skirts must go over the kneecaps. No showing of cleavage either. This temple is worth the effort with spectacular scenery. Highly recommended. It’s better than most of the temples in other areas of Thailand in my opinion.

  5. One of Thailand’s renowned famous Temples, a visit well worth the trip if you are prepared for the inevitable crowds and traffic.Well organised and controlled. Not really suitable/easy if you have a mobility related disability.

  6. 3 big and nice Temples, nice scenery. This was the 1st place we visited when we were in Khao Kho. There are also souvenir shops and traditional food around.

  7. This is a spectacular temple complex with a huge white Buddha statue that can been seen from miles around. Inside beautiful decorations (whatever you may think of these religious extravagances). The second building can be climbed to the top with a great view of the temple and the surroundings.

  8. This is possibly the most beautiful temple I’ve seen in Thailand. It’s located in the mountains and has over 5 million mosaic pieces around one part and very interesting 5 Buddha images at the other.Ask @ karma home hostel in Phitsanulok how to get there.Free to enter, just bit difficult to get to but really worth it.

  9. My third visit, this Wat is still very impressive, a real highlight. Love the architecture and the mosaic on and around the second building. Great viewing at night too!

  10. Beautiful temple and a must when visiting the province. Very spiritual and one of the finest temples I have seen. There are exquisite restaurants if you drive further up the mountain. The second climb passed the temple had the nice restaurant. Unfortunately I did not get the name.
