  1. We went there as it is near to the Elephant Coservation Centre at Lampang. There are many stalls selling local souvenirs and many food stalls selling local snacks, sweets and fruits. THere is a coffee place slightly away from market selling very good coffee.

  2. The Thung Kwian Market is one of the more authentic markets you can find in Thailand. It’s remote, located near the Thai Elephant Conservation Center on the highway between Lampang and Chiang Mai. Surprisingly big for essentially being in the middle of nowhere, it has a fascinating array of non-timber forest products, including mushrooms, herbs, spices, small animals and lots of edible insects. Various other local products and handicrafts and the usual array of cheap clothes, shoes, ceramics, and lots of food stalls, of course. Well worth a stop, even if you’re a seasoned Asian “market-goer”.

  3. Big market set up to catch travelers on busy Chiang Mai to Lampang road.Has a mix of things from food to clay to wood to clothes. As is typical with many large Thai markets you have dozens (and dozens) of people selling exactly the same thing at exactly the same price, but that is Thailand. You do find some unusual food stuff here and plenty of it. Sausages, pork rinds, jerky, teas, candies, spices, and sauces are abundant and seasonal fruits and rarities in the area like insects of most sorts are available. (common in Issan but not so much in Chiang Mai area. Lots of small stands selling grilled meats and other typical Thai dishes. Not too many sit down places to eat and what there are is basic plastic chair kind of thing. It is relatively unchanged over the 15 years I have been coming at least annually; which is nice I think.

  4. This market provides famous OTOP lampang city products, esp. ceramics, woodcrafts, locally made souvenirs. Snacks , food and drinks are available here, it’s very crowded on weekends and long holidays. There is also public toilets and highway police service center there.

  5. Decided to stop here briefly on the way from Chiang Mai to Lampang A great selection of local style clothing, souvenirs, food and even local alcohol.

  6. Pretty much like any other Thai market plus some bugs and other delicacies from the jungle. If you travel to Lampang from Chiang Mai you might stop to have a snack or two and take a look at some of the other products sold just as ceramic. It’s right beside the highway so it’s easily accessible.

  7. It’s the big open air souvenirs, local speciaties, northern food, coffee, ceramics market on tge superhighway , connecting Lampang and Chiangmai.it’s at the foot of khunTan mountain.there are plenty of parking spaces.northern traditional sausages are well recommended to try.Ceramics is also one of best buy products.
