Hin Ngam Beach is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
Hin Ngam Beach is a vast area well gear up for future development in the Province of Nakhon Si Thamarat, near the town of Sichon. The pristine beach with good road leading to the well protected beach with plenty of fresh water and electricity supply is definitely gear for a beach destination. The various attractions nearby also added the charm to it. There are several large parcel of land waiting for the appropriate time to start their project. In the mean time, stroll along the beach with hardly anyone around is a very pleasant exercise on any sunny day.
CONFUSION REIGNS There are 3 beaches in this region. Starting in the north and stretching from the break-wall of the river entrance 500m south is a no-name (no doubt the locals have one) strip of sand (although the silica gets pretty skinny over the southern two thirds and there are lotsa rocks offshore) I’ll call SICHON NORTH BEACH. Jump across a small section of rocks and you reach the middle beach – called SICHON BEACH – 750m long and the nicest of the 3. TRIPADVISOR has a separate page on this beach. I can see why many have confused this with HIN NGAM BEACH, because the resort precinct of that name is immediately behind the beach. SICHON (middle) BEACH ends in the south at a pretty impressive headland which is tied to the land by a low isthmus about 250m wide. if you move south of this you come to the third beach, the real HIN NGAM – a 700m long boulder beach – mainly rounded stones which have a reddish tinge. “HIN NGAM” means “red rock”. I just browsed the photos – they show two only : SICHON NORTH (the majority of pix) and SICHON middle. But none show the real HIN NGAM beach. So I have added 3 of mine. I read the reviews – several, particularly those done by THAIS, mentioned a beach dominated by rocks, but others are obviously talking about the other two.I’m going to try and correct the LOCATION MAP on this page which currently shows the beach in the middle of NAKOM SI THAMMARAT some 40km south! I don’t know if my changes will work.Apart from the unusual colouring, HIN NGAM beach hasn’t a lot going for it, although fossickers who like looking under seaside rocks for crabs and other critters may be whelmed. It’s not particularly easy to walk along, would not be my pick for swimming despite water which seems pretty clear (nearby SICHON middle is the swimmers’ beach), has no resorts except for one Thai style place at the south side of the northern isthmus (there are a few holiday houses scattered behind the beach – not sure if they are to rent or belong to wealthy Thais) and no tourist-grade restaurants (there are a couple of low budget Thai beachside restaurants which seemed to be doing a good trade with locals – I kicked myself for not going in: usually food and prices are great in such places). For tourist level eats there is no shortage at SICHON middle BEACH – and immediately south of HIN NGAM bch is SEA STONE HOTEL, probably the most modern resort in the general area, whose pool-side restaurant has great views along HAD PITI BEACH which stretches 40km south to NAKOM, plus a comprehensive menu including the only budget priced club sandwich with fries I could find. The only other development of note is at the far northern end of HIN NGAM BEACH – some institutional looking buildings and a small pier which are part of the PROVINCIAL FISHERIES RESEARCH CENTER.SUM UP – if you are staying in SICHON, by all means take a look at HIN NGAM BEACH, but for nice sand and good swimming you’ll find SICHON midddle BEACH immediately north a lot more appealing.
Nice stop during the snirkeling trip. The Songs are very nice but dont take any with you as it will bring you really bad luck if you believe to the sign….
Here, there is the quiet place for relax. There is less people, some restaurants and many of monkeys. Beware of monkeys.
Is a very beautiful. It is a quiet place. There is a large stone wall. It is a place to relax. I love this place.
One of the last beaches in beautiful scenery without beeing overcrowded. The road between Sichon and Kanom was completed in 2019.
Hat Hin Ngam is located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, my mother’s hometown. made me go there often I would like to recommend this place because it is a beach that is not crowded, peaceful and the sea is very beautiful. And this beach is still not very popular yet. Most of the people who go there are either locals or have been here before. There is also a restaurant to sit and eat, or anyone who wants to just enjoy the view can bring a mat to lie down and play. Even though this place is a bit far from Bangkok. But if anyone has stopped by or traveled to Nakhon Si Thammarat, I would like to recommend this beach.
