  1. Khao Daeng View Point (not to be confused with Wat Khao Daeng, the downstanding temple) is a panoramic peak I visited last year in September, arrived at about 10 am. You must hike for about 400 meters up and the road to climb requires a lot of care. Make sure you are wearing hiking or trekking shoes, I don’t recommend try to climb if you don’t have. On the top, about 1000 feet above ground level, the sun can be quite strong, so make sure you have sun protection or you are definitively going to get some srious skin burn! The view over the sea and the hills is however breattaking and it was really worth the trouble for me to see. Great experience!

  2. During a drive in this area, happened to stop here and simply enjoyed having a break and enjoying to setting and atmosphere, very calming. It is just a bit off the main road but worth visiting.

  3. There is a sign that climbing the hill after 15:30 is not allowed (fine 500 baht, but there was nog guard), so be in time. The rocky climb can best be done on proper shoes, although I managed to do it on sandals. On top you have a nice 360° view. The path is clearly indicated.

  4. This was my husband’s favorite part of the national park. We enjoyed it so much that we visited again the next day. The hike is rocky and steep. The hike only took us about 30 minutes, but we are fairly active and had on proper sports apparel (footwear being the most important for the rocky climb). I’d plan on spending 2-3 hours total giving 1 hour to hike up and time to enjoy the view and take pictures before hiking back down. Earlier in the day is better to beat the heat and take pictures. I read that the trail was not clearly marked, but it seems they have new trail markers, yellow concrete arrows cemented along the trail. These markers were very easy to follow. There is no bathroom or water available at the head of the trail, so make sure to stop somewhere else beforehand.

  5. It’s a tricky climb to the view point with lots of sharp rocks. Once at the top the views are wonderful.

  6. I personally found this the best part of Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park because there were less people here so I really felt like I had the entire area to myself. That being said, this is not exactly an easy hike because the paths are steep and made up of large rocks, so do not go for anything less than a proper pair of shoes with a good grip. Nonetheless, it is truly a rewarding experience at the end upon reaching the top. My driver said that the climb should take 30 mins up and another 30 down although I took 13 mins up so I guess this varies depending on the individual. Once at the peak, don’t get too excited because it is really a small area made up of mere jagged rocks with NO flat space & a steep face. Also, beware of the heavy presence of mosquitoes here, so do take the necessary precautions. Those who require the toilet here would have to do it au naturel.

  7. Hike to the top of Khao Daeng and get a beautiful view of Sam Roy Yot mountain range and the ocean.Need to pay because it is a part of the national park. The office is just cross the street from the start of the hike.

  8. The way up to the viewpoint is quite difficult, should wear good shoes, take spray mosquitoes with you as well, Follow the arrows and you will not get lost 😉 arrows will be there all the way, there have monkey too I seen only dusky langurs 👍🐒 Don’t forget bring water please!! On top viewpoint you can seen mountains, shrimps farm, Temple, Village and the sea!! If you like adventurous, you shouldn’t miss it!😁

  9. A well marked trek. Amazing view at the top.Locals can do it in flip flops. We did both the praya nakhon cave and the Khao dang viewpoint with a single entrance ticket of 200bhat.Very doable to do both in a day.

  10. Did this on the same day after the Phraya Nakhon cave since it was in the vicinity. Did not know that an entrance fee was required but the Phraya Nakhon cave ticket could be used here as well so do not throw it away if you plan on visiting both! The entrance at the carpark area was quiet with only one other vehicle when we visited. There was a ranger and the information counter lady on duty when we visited. The ranger also asked us if we left behind a smart watch at the Phraya Nakhon cave when we said we came from there. Was pleasantly surprised by their helpfulness and service for visitors. The entrance has no amenities compared the the Phraya Nakhon cave to the best of my knowledge. If hiking in the afternoon, be sure apply sunblock as the second half of the hike is fairly exposed. The first half is covered by canopy but is filled with mosquitos. Recommend to wear sleeved tops, long pants and have your shades with you. Having insect repellant would be good too as the buzzing as you hike could be annoying. Also, do bring along water. The hike is challenging and very steep. Would be a good idea to grab the rocks to support yourself especially when coming down. The summit itself is an arrangement of rocks with no flat surface. The wind was also extremely strong. We were lucky to have the summit to ourselves so we could sit and enjoy the 360 view of the area. Did not take many photos as I was worried the wind would blow my phone out of my hand.Good and enjoyable if you are adventurous and don’t mind using your hands on a hike.
