Karon Circle is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Patak Road, 83100, Thailand
We walked past this roundabout, Circle, a number of times, by day and by night, during our recent stay in Karon. In the centre of the circle are a number of white statues, assuming marble. The statues are a tribute to the heritage of local Thai people. They pay homage to fishermen, banana farmers and workers in the rubber plantations and tin mining.Karon Circle is at the busy intersection of Patak and Wiset Road on the beach front. The statues can be viewed from the pavements that line the roads. At night the base of the statues are lit up with coloured lights.
Spotted the statues as we approached in our taxi, the driver reluctant to stop due to traffic controls and also considering it too dangerous for me to access. I eventually convinced him to park in a side street and I scarpered through the traffic to the sanctuary of the monument. The sculptures represent farmers and fishermen, mining and workers of the rubber plantations. Mythical birds stand atop the columns on either inside of the access stairs. Well maintained and worth the stop, but is dangerous to access.
