Ban Pong Wanwan is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 23 Moo 1 Pakrat Subdistrict, 70110, Thailand
A large town with outlying small villages and residential areas it has a large river running through it and a set of irrigation canals. Twice a week large outdoor market selling every thing you could need including a hippy stall owner whose self created cds of an eclectic musical taste is fantastic, I bought a fantastic Thai language reggae Cd, He speaks English too. The area around Bang pong is country side and large and medium sized lakes. Where my bungalow was situated there was a lake containing some very large fish and an extremely large Python, although I only saw it once as it was crossing the dirt track road. Good public transport links to Bangkok and taxis too. I bought a safety helmet to wear when on my motor bike for £3 :50p equivalent!! Really stylish and legal, but not in the UK because it doesn’t possess a kite mark. Great indoor market with live fish in bowls waiting t be taken home to eat. Plenty of good food stalls and restaurants.
It is still possible to stumble into Hidden Jewels in out of the way places. This little complex is presented as an old style (20-50 years ago) Thai village. There are literally 1000s of items and settings; a wonderful opportunity for pictures. The onsite restaurant allows a welcome break from the heat and humidity. It is a fantastic place to spend a few hours walking and photographing.
This is a wonderful out-of-the way attraction on the north side of Ban Pong City. Post-COVID it is only open on weekends until further notice.
