  1. Unexpectedly amused by the play. Traditional art are not always boring. The dance was powerful enough, voices were also great using up-to-date language to let people have fun. Great attraction near Bangkok.

  2. The display is not too much big and there is some details in English. However if you are without a guide or know some of the Ramayna stories the images will not be much of an interest… Nice side trip if you in the region

  3. Nang Yai Wat Kanon/ Shadow Play ( Ramayana) Cultural museum/.Showtime At Wat Kanon theater is SAT 10.00 & SUN 11.00 . and beautiful river side (Mae Klong river) That’s all working by temple and People in village . (Restroom is ok. :-/ before you drive to Wat Kanon , You will see the big PTT gas station there are 7-11 &Amezon cafe)

  4. This is a rather typical wat with a very old ‘bot’. But that is NOT the reason to go here. It actually has 3 distinctly different attractions. 1) across the road from the actual temple is an open area inhabited by hundreds of relatively tame monkeys. Buy some food at one of the roadside stands to feed the, They are no where near as aggressive as other similar places. 2) at the rear of the compound there is a great view of the Mae Klong River. 3) the MAIN attraction, however, is the Shadow Fan museum. Very old and very interesting.

  5. There is traditional thai art museam inside the temple. It’s called “Nang yai”Very beautiful and peaceful place. You will find the history and the actual Nang Yai. There is th show only on Saturday in the morning.

  6. Quiet place with the ancient wall temple around the temple you will enjoy to feeding the monkeys by buying some fruit from the village nearby very cheap and friendly farmer.

  7. This is a nice place to spend a few hours. Including the temple there is a museum. Sometimes there are traditional shows with leather pictures behind and in front a light screen. Every year on Sonkran, there is a big festival at this place. For tourists who like to see (learn about) Thai culture, is this a good opportunity.

  8. The short, free show of the shadow puppets by high school kids showed us how it’s done, but as it was during the day, they couldn’t show the shadow part, and we saw the backside of the show instead. There’s a small, new old market with some food and souvenirs, a man making small key ring shadow puppets so that you can see how it’s done, plus the museum. I didn’t have the energy to look all the different puppets and read the accompanying stories, but there were some puppets lying around to be used as props.

  9. They say that this is one of the oldest temples in the area and there is evidence that it existed during the Ayutthaya period. There are many golden Buddhas that surround the temple. It is a very beautiful temple to visit. You can walk to the Mae Klong river. There is also a famous shadow puppet museum, Nang Yai, on the grounds, which is free and open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. They have performances on the weekends and public holidays. Check their website for information on their annual art heritage festival, usually held in August. This ancient art form was once reserved for royalty and is preserved through this museum.

  10. The temple has small museum exhibit hundred years old of shadow puppets. Most were made from cow or buffalo leather. There is a shadow puppet show in daytime, the show is played by local youth along with local youth band. There is small local market selling food and a small local cafe in temple area. Lovely people, very welcoming, even dogs here are so friendly. It is a good idea to visit this place, it is hard to find shadow puppet show like this these days plus you get to support locals 100%. The temple has a night festival where they play shadow puppet at night once a year, you can check on their Facebook page called วัดขนอนหนังใหญ่
