Beautiful sunrise.Full of local and some tourists but once the sun is up, the place is almost empty and you could find a nice spot and enjoy the beautiful view.
This place is stunning! We stayed close to Doi Pha Tang and we drove ( a car we rented from the city) about 20-30 mins to reach PhuChiFa. We took a truck to go up there (30-50THB/person) and walked more about 10 mins to reach the top. After all, we manage to find a nice spot for a sunrise and we were lucky to see sunrise above the cloud. It was very cold, windy but sooooo beautiful. Better to prepare a good camera because we didn’t have good enough to capture the dark light but you can witness through your eyes. The only thing I don’t like is, there were a lot of people. But I’m also one of those who wants to see beautiful nature so I shouldn’t complain.
Jan 2020, we survey around Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai & Mae Salong. Always wanted to visit Phu Chi Fa many years back and we finally made it.Stunning view………….I’ll be back again with new groups.
Worth a trip. It’s breathtaking . Im lucky enough to see the sunrise on early January .you’ll see the sea of fogs, some Hmong kids dancing en route when we climb up the peak, everything is epic. It’s windy and cool up there. I offer some tips for people who’re staying in Chiang rai and don’t mind to spend a lil and wanting an easy trip (save time )to phu chi fa, you can actually get some agency along the city in Chiang rai offering a trip from your hotel to the hiking point, around 3000 baht ,then you’ll just take a 20-30 minutes hike up to phu chi fa.
I went to Phu Chi Fa to see the sunrise and it was amazing! The hike up is only 760m which was a bit steep but not difficult (bring a flashlight if you want to go for the sunrise) I stayed overnight at Phu Chi Fa Twin View Resort which had a basic but comfortable room with nice views. I would definately go there again!
we reached at 5,30am. Being a public holiday there were many visitors. The hike is a moderate one as its a steep climb and the path is not even. For photography the lower base is better. The sea of mist is unique with the peaks jutting out. The sunrise is stunning.
Wonderful place to see sunrise or sunset. Amazing viev for Laos and Thailand.for me number one in thai mountains. I love this place
Most beautiful sunrise! Though it was just 760 m walk up but it was one of the most tiring as the weather was pretty cold. It was dark – we reached at 5:00 am and quickly climbed up before the sun rose – our tiredness disappeared the moment we saw the sunrise!
The sunrise was what I came for and it certainly didn’t disappoint. From the viewpoint up to the top, there’s a trail of about 400m. It might be a little dark so it’s best to have a torch light with you while on the way up.
The sunset and sunrise is beautiful, however the path is too polished and beaten that can be a hazard after a rainfall. Temperature did not drop too much, hoovering around 20 Deg-C. There will be Hmong kids along the way dancing or singing seeking for a tip. If you are kind enough to part THB 20/pax, do so otherwise just ignore them
The night before our hike to summit of Phu Chi Fa ,it was windy. The momentum carried on until the morning of our hike. We were told chances of seeing sea of clouds were less on windy morning. We began our hike at 615am. When we reached the summit, there was no sea of clouds but to our surprise the panoramic view was stunning. We thought it was better that way. We saw villages , farms and rivers from the summit. The sunrise was spectacular and worth the hike. Strawberries sold by local farmers were sweet and cheap. 180 baht for a box of big strawberries. Many accomodation sites available and various types too. We stayed one nite at the tent type with unattached bathroom. It is called Chill Chill Camp. For those planning to stay overnite, do go for other options like chalet with a few bedrooms and attached bathroom. It got really cold when the sun sets. Not many activities in this forest. There are tribal communities and many types of vegetables and fruits are grown. We saw lots of already harvested corn fields. If you ask me would I go back to Phu Chi Fa and my answer is YES for relaxation. We had dinner at a nearbt restaurant and food was quite food and reasonably priced.
