  1. An ordinary national park (smaller though). Two attractions are nice mountain view and Flagstaff mountain (Nern Sao thong) approx 35 mins drive from the park. Disliked – electricity is available from 6.30pm till 8.30pm and makeshift chalet maybe quite scary as at night the roof have many noises (was told a squirrel) but must careful since too dark (no light in forest).

  2. Amazing stay in thong pha phum. Only had a day but there was enough to see to make us want to come back. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go for the hike up Chang Puak as it was closed. They offered a few views to go to instead. We hesitantly agreed to pay the 200baht per person entrance fee to go to the views. After having seen the views, I would be ready to invite many friends just so they could admire such natural beauty.I will definitely come back and hopefully stay in the camp site to wake up to such beauty. I am not posting any photos so as not to spoil the emotional feeling of discovering it first hand.

  3. It’s a solid 60km and 1.5 hour drive from Ban Thong Pha Phum to the National Park. Don’t be fooled by the Google Maps distance! The entrance to National Park is much further along and almost at the border to Myanmar. The road isn’t too bad to start with but the last 15km is pretty difficult with parts of it damaged and lots and lots of potholes. We were grateful for our 4WD but we saw lots of 2WD vehicles doing the drive. When we arrived we learned that the walking track to Chang Pauk is closed so we had to make do with a short 500m walk to a couple of lookout points – Nern Kooddoi and Nern Chang Pauk lookouts. The views are beautiful but I’m not sure it was worth all the hassle for a couple of lookouts! Admission to the National Park also includes admission to Jokkraddin waterfall the turnoff for which is a further 3km up the road towards Ban Pilok and Ban E-Thong. It’s another 2.8km drive down a steep, narrow, pot-holey road to the waterfall and a 300m walk along well paved pathway to the waterfall. It’s quite a pretty waterfall and you can swim there. Unfortunately, a film crew was working there the day we visited so it was crawling with people – not very peaceful at all! If you have time drive through to Ban E-Thong (a further 5km) and go to the Myanmar border to snap a photo.

  4. The reason that the adjective of ‘interesting’ been added to Thong Pha Phum National Park is the variety of activities can be experience here. Firstly the park require a relatively long drive even from Kanchanaburi town through hilly road in order to get there. Secondly, the park has camp site over looking beautiful nature of surrounding mountains and even a treehouse call Tarzan by the numbers. Thirdly, this is the launching site to climb the Khao Chang Puek (White Elephant Mountain) which allow climbers (maximum 60 per day) when the weather permit. Adding all the above and more e.g. nearby waterfalls, and border town of Pilok Village. This is an interesting park if visitor has time to visit.

  5. Thai price 40 baht, white person price 200 baht. This is not acceptable, what a racist park! NOT recommended.

  6. Very cold weather on top the mountain and good view from here, I can see frist sunshine go up and windy so strong, this view you can see Myanmar country and mountain with sky zone, the way you must take care of yourself, not easy to drive, can camping and relax with your friend. Have a toilet room

  7. Amazing view of stars at night from the Treehouse!! Caught beautiful sunrise too! Not an easy park to reach, but still doable via their public transport. Took their local bus 8203 to Thong Pha Phum District and local song teow (open van) to the national park.

  8. My family organized a trip to Huai Khayeng National Park, Thong Pha Phum District. This trip is 2 days 1 night. Accommodation is camping. There are many activities to do in Huai Khaeng, such as white water rafting. go to the orchard to taste the fruit or getting in touch with the nature of the plot (garden) of Thong Pha Phum Forest, stopping by to make merit, pay homage to the monks, see the new church of Wat Tha Maduea, sit in the mall and see elephants Nearby attractions Bueng Nam Thip, giant trees, 280 million year old shellfish fossils, hot springs, rainbow waterfalls

  9. Visit the waterfall is a must. Beautifully nestled in the forest. Reachable by nice maintained walking trail. It’s perfect to combine with E-tong Pilok and border crossing viewpoint Noen Chang Suek
