  1. This is an beutiful attraction, The area is large , Walking around inside temple area and outside down the stairs to market shops. The view from main temple area when you walk up the stairs you oversee Burma Laos Thailand -Is tremendouse beautiful

  2. Came here as a part of an organized tour, the temple itself (and the surrondings) are tacky and cheap even, but the view makes up for it. Not sure if you should go there only to see it, the surroundings are busy and traffic is crazy.

  3. You have to go through the Mae Sai market to get to this temple, once you are there you have to climb a lot of steps to get to this Burmese Temple. Once you get there it is the most beautiful temple I have seen and it was the first time I saw Thai ladies monks/nuns. There is a scorpion statue here, as the temple is named after this scorpion and then you get on the top of the temple you can have breath taking views of Burma and Mae Sai and you can see the Emerald and many different types of Budda here. It is a must visit when you come to this area.

  4. Atop a hill, the view overlooks Mae Sai and the Myanmar border. At the foot of the long concrete stairway are dozens of market shops.

  5. the temple it self not really big as other temples in thailand. but from the top of the hill u can see a nice view for 3 counties, thai, myanmar and laos. Good for photo session.

  6. The thing is, if you spend some time in Thailand, you will see a lot of temples. At first, you’re amazed by just the mere fact of seeing a temple. The architecture being so different from the western architecture we know (assuming you’re a westerner). At second, you might get a bit ‘satisfied’ with temples. Having seen one, you may have seen them al?But wait, then there is Doi Wao & Wat Thamphajoen on top of the scorpion mountain. After a gruesome climb, you reach the top and are treated with beautiful buidlins and a stunning view on the Thai – Myanmar border. Also located in the temple cmplex, is Paichayon Castle. There you will find relics that worship the Hundu god Indra.Interesting fact: the mountain is called scorpion mountain, because there used to be a lot of scorpions on it.I’ve seen a lot of temples, but this one sure is one I will remember!

  7. Lovely to come here after the noise of people and traffic around The Golden Triangle.Such a tranquil place – with beautiful temples and great views.

  8. The temple located on the centre of Maesai shopping area near Pilice Station .It is very easy to go border market only 300metres . If you love Thailand and Thai culture please do not forget to come here . On the high level it also has King Narasuan #Prasuphan Kanlaya Princess statues as well.Good view .

  9. Doi Wao & Wat Thamphajoen are beautifully colored and known for its famous statues and monuments. My highlight was the black large scorpion!

  10. Once you have passed through the market, where you can grab some roasted chestnuts or fresh fruit, you will need to climb a substantial Naga staircase to this temple. At the top, the temple, while not the grandest, is beautiful and houses a unique giant scorpion statue and boasts a wonderful view across the Myanmar border.
