mind this bay is mostly a fishing village so you will find an harbor and many fishing boats that leave in the evening.it is pretty nice and quiet but not the cleanest beach in phangan
The bay here has clear waters. There are fishermen set up in a small town. Behind is a towering green mountain cliff. Is a dream land. Good atmosphere, not many people are very natural. Is a bay with white sand And a port for fishing boats Various tour boats Can swim and have many restaurants And Seven convenient. And this beach is also famous for One sunny fish and salted organic fish.
This is the perfect beach if you want something off the beaten path. It had soft white sand and very calm water. There are a couple of restaurants on the street but it is not overcrowded.
Located on the north coast of Koh Phangan, it is an ideal destination for scooter travellers – the new road through the middle of the island is excellent. The village itself has bars and restaurantrs ans shops and beaches,
The reason why I love it so much is because it is quite hidden and not touristic – this was probably what I liked the most about it! It is a quiet and serene beach and the water is really warm and the sand is really soft and white. it is about 2km long. Chaloklum village, which is a nice little fishing village, so there will be no drunk tourists or loud music – which means you will have that emerald water for just for yourself! Perfect place to go if you want an off-the-beaten-track relaxing place!
It’s a fisherman village…so yes there are lots of boat. Scuba and Freedive boat also leave from here to Sail Rock to dive. The beach is nice, but because of many boat around…there are some engine smoke and oil in the water
I like Chaloklum because it still has the feel of a fishing village. It probably is more authentic than any other part of the tourist-saturated island of Koh Phangan. The beach is pretty nice, and the restaurants serve local caught fish, fresh from the sea.
Went here for the day. Started by walking to the left hand side of the bay and lazing for an hour, sand coarse here. Spent the rest of the day at the other side of the bay which was the better side, both the beach and shade provided by the trees. There are no sunbeds. A traditional village surrounds the bay. Both the village and the beach were very quiet when we visited.
It’s a small traditionnal fisherman village. It’s quiet but it has anything you want to spend a great time: delicious thai restaurants, markets, 7-eleven, beautiful beaches… My favorite place when I stay in Koh Phangan.
We’ve just had 6 nights in Chaloklum and had an excellent stay. It’s a very peaceful resort but has plenty of restaurants and a few bars. It doesn’t feel very touristy as it has a pier and fishing boats that the locals use. The sand is powder soft and the water was shallow when we were there. It is surrounded by jungle and sea eagles can be seen soaring around the bay during the day. It has an great market that starts at 4pm on a Sunday – it’s mainly food but there are a food other stalls. It’s a great atmosphere with bands busking on the pier. There is a temple and the monks chant around sunset time which was magical to hear it from the beach whilst listening to the chanting. It’s a very friendly resort and easy to get to from Thongsala. Would highly recommend is you want somewhere authentic and not touristy.
