A friend of mine and I booked a one-day trekking with Tony in this beautiful mountain. Although the terrain was a little challenging for me (after 2 years of work from home), we really enjoyed it with Tony’s helps and encouragements. I was very impressed with Tony’s knowledge of different plants, local cultures, and he patiently explained to us. We also enjoyed the cooking by the couple in a village with their friendly service in their bamboo house. I really wanted to mention that we met a wonderful dog named Ram. He greeted us at village right we arrived. He followed us everywhere and let us for about 4kim to the water fall. What a remarkable dog and I miss you, Ram!
Tony was a great guide on our driving trip to the Golden triangle, the White temple,Blue temple, Opium museum and other sites. His knowledge was welcomed and we loved his commentary as we went along. His vehicle was a 5 seater late model truck, clean and he was an excellent driver. Would recommend him highly.
If you are looking for a guide in the Chiang Rai province, Tony Ran from Lanna Cultural Tours is your man! Based on your wishes and his experience and knowledge, Tony will tailor-make the prefect tour for you. Also not unimportant, Tony speaks fluently English.I have been two times with Tony to Doi Chang. In this area he has grown up and he knows all the corner stones in this area. You won’t regret to book your tour with Lanna Cultural Tours.
Hii! Only today our journey through the kingdom of Lanna has ended. These two days with the wonderful guide Tony were unforgettable! Tony speaks excellent English, knows the answer to absolutely any question from the names of plants to the history of the creation of temples. Listening to the guide is a pleasure 🙂 Walks through bamboo forests, unique temples, tea plantations, coffee farm, a boat trip on the border of three countries, and many more activities, as well as the most delicious lunches to try the cuisine of northern Thailand! All this together is a dream trip! Thank you very much, Tony!!
People who visit Chiang Rai just as a daytrip from Chiang Mai dont know what they are missing. This is a fascinating region and you can really get the best out of it with Lanna Cultural Tours. We were a little tired to do a trek, so I emailed Tony with my thoughts for what was basically a road trip in the region and he made it happen in literally a day. With wonderful, kind and knowledgeable Mai as our guide, we saw and learned so much in this trully enchanting place! Plus great food ( we will never forget the gyoza we had in a chinese tavern Mai took us to in the chinese village up in Doi Mae Salong!). I wholeheartedly recommend this company for travelling in the region!
We took a family trip to Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. It was an amazing trip, we visited Singa Park, the Golden Triangle, and villages in the area. Our guide Tony Ran was amazing, patient and fluent with quick changes, speaks good English and has excellent terrain control. It is highly recommended. We also had the help of an amazing and professional instructor who works with Tony named Bee and she was great. We really enjoyed the trip and plan to return. I want to recommend Tony Ran. Since we had previously been to Thailand, we wanted a guide who would take us to unusual and less touristy places, and indeed at our request Tony took us on an unforgettable trip that included a lot of nature, trekking, climbing a mountain in the morning to watch the sunrise, temples that cannot be missed on a trip to the north, staying with a local family, sailing on the Mekong river and a lot more. Tony is very knowledgeable, we learned a lot from him about the local culture, history and nature in the area, coffee and tea plantations, bamboos, teak trees, etc. Tony is a particularly kind man full of sense of humor, has a good knowledge of the English language and happily fulfilled our every request. Tony picked us up and returned us to the airport, 2 couples in a spacious car. In 5 days we managed to cover Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pau and more. We enjoyed every moment of our trip with him, an unforgettable experience, highly recommend him.
We had an excellent experience with Lanna Cultural Tours and our guide Tony who made our 3D2N trekking a real highlight of our holidays in northern Thailand. Tony is very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of interesting information that enabled us to uncover the beauty of the country and its people. We went through hidden nature gems of the Chiang Rai Hills and enjoyed the hospitality of Lalu hilltribe people when we stayed overnight in their village. Tony made this tour even more special with culinary delights of the local dishes, like banana flower curry, etc. Another very special point that makes this tour stand out from the rest is its eco-friendliness. We did not leave any trash after us or used any one-way plastic. Even for cooking on campfire we used bamboo, banana leaves for plates, made our own cutlery and cups out of bamboo. Our kids (8 & 11 y.o.) enjoyed the tour a lot and learned so many useful things about camping, local herbs, traditions and history.
We had a 2 days long personalized tour with Tony. While planning, he was always very responsive. Last minute, we had to change our plans a little (we canceled trekking because we already had 6 days of it and my feet were slightly dead…) but Tony was really flexible, coming up with new ideas and finally, creating 2 amazing days in Chiang Rai.We visited the White and Blue Temples, the Black House, tasted and learnt about coffee and its production, visited Doi Chang coffee farms, family projects, got to know an Akha family, then visited the most famous tea plantation in Doi Mae Salong, where we could taste different types while an expert was explaining us the process of tea making. We also saw the Golden Triangle and the House of Opium. He also showed us the best place to taste the original Yunnanese noodle and explained the history behind Mae Salong. All in all, it was amazing 2 days, we definitely want to come back to Chiang Rai and we will definitely turn to Tony for help!
This was the best thing we did out of our entire 2 week stay in Thailand. I’m so very glad I made the leap and booked with Tony! My husband, myself, and our three daughters (ages 13, 13, 11) had such an amazing time trekking through the Lahu, Karen, and Akhu villages. We hiked for three days, and two nights. It was very remote and we never saw another person on any of our trails. Tony was professional, knowledgeable, and so funny. His English was great and he kept my girls smiling by making them blow horns and animals out of bamboo with his machete. He cooked INCREDIBLE food for us every morning and lunch. And had the most amazing, well organized dinners in the bamboo village and rice terrace- which we were able to participate in preparing. We were welcomed into homes and were shown such kindness while cooking alongside members of the village. He even brought little games for my kids in the evenings, and took pictures of our adventures along the way. At the end- he had us plant a banana tree for us to come back and eat when it’s ready 😉 It was a wonderful taste of culture and a beautiful experience for my entire family. He also provided transport to and from our Airbnb, stopped at the market for us on the way home, took us to the white temple, the huai mae zaiy waterfall, and on a long tail boat ride down the Maekok river. He was always on time and made everything feel so organized, yet very casual at the same time. He is flexible and easy going- i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Tony and his knowledge and adventures to anyone. Best guide around- you won’t regret it!!
