What a great tour company to deal with from airport pick ups to Daily tour always one time with very friendly staff that will go out of there way help you .Thank you to the management for when my wife was not well they refunded us all our money on tours we did not make .That is what you call customer service.
My husband and I had a private driver to explore the sights of Phuket and the surrounding areas on the 28 February. He had him for 8 hours. It was a fantastic day. We set our own itinerary and visited Karon View Point, The Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Monkey Hill, Old Phuket Town, Chinese Temple and Promthep Cape. Nothing was too much trouble for our driver. When we wanted to stop to take photos of random objects of interest, our driver was more than happy to accommodate us. The day went so fast and it was made wonderful by the lovely car we travelled in and our amazing driver.
So having used Buffalo Tours (now Discova) before we had always said that we would come back to use their services. So the 15 night trip was designed around our own requirements with 10 nights of touring the highlights of Thailand followed by a 5 night stay on the fabulous island that is Koh Lipe. The vacation started in Bangkok with a free day to ourselves followed by a day of seeing the delights of Bangkok (Golden Palace, Canal tour etc). Thereafter we spent a number days on the road with a private guide taking in Kanchanburi (River Kwai), Ayuttha, Sukhthai before completing this leg in Chiang Mai where we had a great time at an Elephant camp amongst other tours. We then flew back to Bangkok to spend a couple of days at our own leisure before we then flew down to Hat Yai in order to make our way to Koh Lipe which we hand picked as an island to relax and explore. The pre-arrangements and support throughout were second to none and we couldn’t recommend Discova anymore highly. It certainly ticked all the boxes.
After confirmation and full payment, a discova rep advised us to be in the lobby at 0715 for pick up. After 1 1/2h of trying to contact the office, we were advised the tour had been cancelled. There was no offer of an alternative tour.Terrible customer service.
After initial problems trying to book tours over the internet in Phuket, we turned to the Discova travel desk at the Kee Resort in Phuket. The consultant, Akechai was excellent and booked 4 trips for us, the prices were very competitive and the service even better. Trips to Phi Phi Island and the James Bond Island were fantastic, all pick ups were on time, the boats and crew excellent and the itinerary was great, both the travel consultants and tours are highly recommended.
We got picked up at 8am by Bim and our personal Songthaew driver. They took us for a 10 minute drive to a place they called the lost city. Just before we picked up our bicycles we stumbled upon a traditional funeral. Bim explained us all about on how it all worked which was very interesting to learn about. After we walked into the hotel were we supposed to pick up the bikes. Only to find out they weren’t ready and still had to inflate some tyres. It was a bit clunky and dysfunctional but Bim took us for a small walk through the temples and explained some of the local customs to fill the time to ready the bikes. The bikes were a bit old and clunky and gears were stuck but it gave it more of an authentic feel. On the ride she took us through the area of the lost city where she explained on how the old temples got flooded and how they used to work. Bim was very interesting to listen to and knows a lot about the history!Around 10.15 our bike tour was over and our Songthaew driver took the bikes back while we visited another temple. We met up again after for a ride to the river ping. Where we embarked on a 30min ride on the river where you could see different sides of the city. Richer and poorer houses. After the ride we docked at a local restaurant where we ate some traditional northern Khoi Soi and had some herbal cold drinks. Which were delicious! It felt a little bit rushed as we were still eating and we had to pick our desert already. Which i must confess was the best damn ice cream we’ve ever had. (Mango sorbet and cream coconut milk ice cream) After that Bim and the Songthaew took us back to the hotel. Around mid-day.Really good historical tour that can get a few updates. But overall worth it for a good quick tour!
Had a great trip and our tour guided Anngee was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative. We sampled loads of foods along the way – thank you Anngee, we had a great time.
I can’t recommend Bim enough! She was a wonderful guide during our visit to the ladyboy show and night market. Her kindness and attention to detail made the experience truly special. Not only was she incredibly friendly, but her deep knowledge of the show and the local culture really enhanced our visit. She knew all the best spots at the market, and her excellent English made everything so easy. It felt like we were being shown around by a local friend. A memorable experience thanks to her—highly recommend!
Unfortunately, quite a disappointment. The guide didn’t provide any information, just dropped us at the stops and then disappeared until he had to take us back into the van. In the end he just left with a shopping bag full of fruit without saying goodbye. The “coconut sugar stop” was probably the worst tourist trap I’ve been to in years.Overall, both the railway market and the floating market are only designed to sell cheap souvenirs, joints and coconut ice cream to tourists. That’s fine in principle, just not what I expected from the description. What worked well: pickup and drop off, the ticket for the boat was included, and the van was fine with seat belts and a/c.
