I was staying in the hotel opposite the Stadium. My friend and I went there for jocking. It was a real fun. Because there are so many people to come for an excercise in the afternoon. Some jocking, some playing football and some using the Outdoor sport machine that providing free of charge for anyone to use. I never know that before. After sport we went to have a nice dinner at Siam Squre. It was really a nice afternoon that I would like to repeat it again when I am in Bangkok.
The National Stadium is very attractive inside and well-maintained. Although the stadium doesn’t look like much on the outside, it is very appealing inside. Located in central Bangkok.
The national stadium is on the Silom line BTS, just near Siam square. While not a major attraction, it is mildly diverting. The front entrance has some very classic art deco lines and there also some nice Thai touches like two emerald Budha-like figures along the roofline.
Who knew there is a pool that is open to the public in the National Stadium complex? Obviously not many people. Place was pretty empty. I shared the olympic sized pool with only one other couple.Place shows it’s age. Not very well maintained. They have closed the diving towers and springboards to the public.Lanes are set up to swim laps. Bring goggles. Chlorine levels are high. You will need them.Nice place to get in a workout and spend an hour. Not fancy – but not expensive or crowded. Also accessible by metro. Very important in this crazy traffic plagued city.

The stadium is located near the heart of commercial shopping area and is a site of many sport activities. However, unless you were not born during the grory of the stadium and the two major universities in Bangkok (for their traditional football-soccer game, it is another stadium and a historic landmark of Bangkok. If you are in the area and needs a nice place for your exercise or just to see a Bangkok landmark, stop by for your jogging and walking or a photo opp.
The preserved entrance looks amazing. Track is well maintained. Guided tour may or may not be available. Feel free to explore and soak in the atmosphere.
Closing time for the main stadium is 8pm. Lights will go off and gates will be lock.200m track next to the main stadium still available after 8pm.Very crowded from 6-7:30pm. I chose to run on the 200m track as it was too crowded to do my interval training as all lanes were occupied with large groups.Crowd thin out at 7:30pm and moved back to main stadium to continue but lights out at 8pm so back to the 200m track again.
It seems like I went to the wrong entrance but while I couldn’t get into the stadium itself, I DID get to see the amazing Art Deco main entrance. This is the original 1935 entrance and is really, really cool. If I’d had more time in the city, I would have checked out the rest of the complex. But, if you have time and if you like Art Deco architecture. It’s worth dropping by.
In addition to having 2 artificial turf fields for playing as usual, this stadium also has a large field for 11 people in standard size to play in one full field. The Crystal Football Club also has brothers and sisters artist, actor, actor Often come together to use this service often as well. Not sure if it’s a good day You might even be able to clash with your favorite celebrity stars.
