This former Khmer/Chong settlement was only recently discovered and is probably the oldest Khmer settlement in Thailand, contradicting the thesis that the Khmer did not cross the cardamon massif. At that time it was a harbour city, but since then the sea has receded by 4 kilometers. Excavation have just started, but you can already imagine what the city looked like, Furthermore there is a small museum in adjacent Wat Thong Thua with visualisations and some interesting Khmer artifacts from the 6th century found at the excavation site.
