The border is not yet open so pretty boring on that front. The market is average full of shops selling all the same stuff you seem to find at all the other border markets. Nice drive but that was about it.
Went there by car from Ao Manao on Saturday morning. It was nothing special but being located next to Burma border you have a special feeling.Shopkeepers were nice and friendly. Orchids were splendid and we enjoyed that part of the market the most.
I enjoyed the bike ride out more than I enjoyed seeing the same old, same old basic market stuff. That said there was one interesting shop with imported antique replicas from the Markets of Guangzhou and Krists from Indonesia, local military swords, cool to look at, but he has a heavy pen when pricing.
This is a very nice market. It’s clean and frequented by many Thais and Burmese who use this border for heaps of border trading. It’s clean and you can find decent food selection too. Price are very reasonable and most of the shopkeepers are very friendly. Only Burmese and Thai languages are spoken here. Love it to the core. It is definitely something very different….
We liked this market. Bought some great wooden accessories and a beautiful Tara statue. People are friendly and since we were in low season, it was not too busy. The fact that it’s a stone’s throw away from Myanmar makes it kind of more exotic somehow. I would recommend a visit!
On the way there, you will see very dry mountains. The border market was not quite as bustling as some I’ve seen elsewhere. You can buy gemstones, orchids, furniture, snacks, baskets, etc. Quite a decent trip if you are in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
There is absolutely nothing to see.It seems that the market was badly effected from the borders closing during C19Many of the stalls are stand in ruin.If you like special flowers and some silver jewelry you might find some.Take picture near the sign – the narrowest point of Thailand
The market is not was it used to be before covid, however you can bargain furniture and other woodpieces.
