  1. We went late afternoon and expected it to be packed with day-trippers from Pai but there was hardly anyone there. We had our own tour guide so for most of the trip through there were just three of us. It’s a huge set of caves with very impressive rock formations. The guide shows you around with a small hand lamp which is really atmospheric. The last section of the cave is on a bamboo raft – again really atmospheric with the water full of fish beneath you and the cave roof covered with bats. Be prepared – it can be hot and humid in there In the latter stages the smell of bat dung is pretty strong. And there are some very steep steps to climb which brought us both out in a sweat. My partner doesn’t like heights and some sections were tricky from that point of view. We paid for the return boat trip through the cave but chose to walk back as it was a nice evening. We had a very quiet walk back on our own through the forest trail. We loved it.

  2. We were led by a student guide. He explained the history of each cave. Our guide proves to be an enthusiastic boy who has read enough and is able to answer all our queries confidently. The steps to the caves are steep and one has to have a certain level of fitness to complete the visit without any breathlessness. The bamboo raft to the last cave I thought, was a great experience as you are able to touch the fishes almost at will.

  3. This is another name for the Tham Lod cave, so please go read the one called Lod Cave on Tripadvisor. There are much more reviews in detail there!

  4. These caves are fantastic, perhaps the best in Thailand. That said, the gas lanterns give off toxic fumes. For the sake of the tourists and, more importantly, your guides, please give them rechargeable electric lanterns for the tour.

  5. What a terrible, teririble guide! The place is nice to visit but if you have a guide who doesn´t speak a single word of English… there are 3 caves to visit but at the second cave her lantern light went out, so we were litarly in the dark and had to find our way back with the light of one celphone. She refused to go to the 3rth cave were you had to go to with the bamboo rafts. She was just laizy as hell!Such a shame!Ps: watch out for the snakes and make sure you cover your had because if the scht of the thousands of bats.
