Elephants kept on chains – they’re also not meant to be ridden as it’s incredibly bad for them. Do some research before visiting this kind of place.
We went with a family of seven and had a great time. This elephant park has multiple certifications for how they manage their elephants. Everything here is inexpensive and the people are very friendly. It was a great morning it for us. Make sure you take up the opportunity for an elephant kiss!
By far, ther best experience of our trip. There are no words to describe this experience. First we rode the elephants for quiet some time,(it was not just a lap around the pen kind of a ride). After, we played in the river with the elephant and I swear (and everyone that has looked at our pictures agreed) that the elephant was actually smiling when he would throw water at us….just unforgetable…
Nobody that has any sort of interest in wildlife could ethically justify giving this company money. Do some research, elephants aren’t meant to be subjected to poor treatment for people to enjoy. We saw staff kicking and pinching the elephants as part of training. They’re not meant to be bathed all day, and an animal that is 10’ tall should have more than a 2’ radius to move around. There are actual sanctuaries where you can see elephants, don’t waste your money here.
Elephants kept in chains. We didn’t stay long as it was too distressing. We weren’t offered a ride but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did offer rides.
The visit was disturbing they kept the elephants in chains of 1m and they cannot move further away. There are 3 little elephants tight from the front foot and they couldn’t move and they were doing circles around the chain. They hit the animals to entertain the visitors with a metal tool in the ear both on the entrance and during the baths. That was the worst they hit the elephants in order to throw water to the bath participants. Awful experience ! Do not support this kind of business!!
The elephants here are very smart and well trained. They work to make guests laugh and have fun. Iam Very enjoy.
This was a tour that our hotel tacked on to a trip on the way to Erawan Waterfalls. We should have researched this stop before we said yes. There are plenty of reviews addressing the sad treatment of the elephants, but because they are not treated correctly they can be highly unpredictable. Parents, please be very careful if you bring small children here. Upon arriving we were greeted and left to walk up to the elephants that are kept at the greeting area. I wrongly assumed (stupid of me, I know) that these elephants were safe to interact with. I was talking to one when they reeled back and slapped me in the jaw with their truck causing me to fall hard and bite my tongue so badly that I spit blood for an hour. Please don’t let your children wander near the elephants or interact with them. 🙁
Don’t let the pictures mislead you. You will not be jumping off elephants or having elephants hold you in their trunks. You will have life vests on at all times (which is a good thing). We had a GREAT time, but it would have been better if we didn’t have such high expectations from the advertisements/pictures. We were disappointed that we paid for 1 hour (30 min ride and 30 min bathing), but it only took 40 minutes. It was REALLY expensive for such a short amount of time. But, we loved that we got to ride the elephants into the water (bareback) and get splashed by them.
Consider yourself a terrible human being if you do this (or a similar) tour. Elephants are not toys, nor are they diving boards. The natural behaviour of elephants is to be very territorial. The only way for elephants to interact with humans like this (riding, feeding or petting them) is for them to be handled. Just image how you get such a big creature to behave (hint, it isn’t gentle). Think twice about doing these kind of tours.
